Our team at Wasaga Dental is dedicated to helping your child establish dental habits that will allow them to maintain a healthy smile through their life. The dental office should be a comforting and enjoyable place for a child’s first visit. At Wasaga Dental, our team makes a special effort to inform each child of what to expect during their visit with pleasant, non-frightening and simple words to describe each treatment.
What to expect
We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental appointment no later than 12 months of age, even if they not have any teeth. Early examination and preventative care set your child up for success for the rest of their life, starting with the prevention of childhood caries (or baby bottle tooth decay) that can lead to tooth loss.
Your child should visit the dentist every 6 months for regular dental cleanings and checkups. We also recommend fluoride treatments twice a year, along with cleanings to keep their teeth strong, as fluoride can provide a protective layer against tooth decay.
